Curves is one of those tools most photographers touch, but few really explore. We often think of it as just brightening or darkening an image, but there’s an incredible amount of creative control hidden in this single adjustment. In this course, we’ll push Curves well beyond the basics—using them not only for tonal correction but also for painting with color, shaping contrast, and building depth. We’ll look at how Curves interact with channels, how they can be used to refine and even create masks, and how subtle curve adjustments can transform the way light and color flow through a photo. The goal here isn’t just to add another adjustment to your toolbox, but to rethink what Curves can actually do when you treat them as a creative brush instead of a technical fix. By the end, you’ll see why this tool has more range than almost anything else in Photoshop.

Lightroom is fantastic. I use it every day, and most of my work begins there. However, when my landscape image requires more control, precision in blending, correcting, or enhancing, I turn to Photoshop. Photoshop has some features and options that I can push to unlock pixel-level control and specialized editing and selection tools that images sometimes demand. In this session, we’ll explore the specific Photoshop workflows (bright object-based and not) and features that give you the edge in landscape editing. You’ll learn how to use layers and masks to combine exposures for balanced skies and foregrounds, as well as how channel selections and Blend If allow for advanced tonal extension and expansion.
